so much for love…

i went to church twice today…waaaaaah…i’m step closer to attaining sainthood…lol…

after the hour or so of torture that was otherwise known as a walk for a cause, and after a stroll on the garden of earthly delights a.k.a. ayala center, i felt that i owed St. Therese a visit, after all, October 1 happens to be her feast day (FYI: most of us have been mispronouncing her name all this time, its actually read with a silent ‘e’ at the last portion, kind of sounding like ‘theres’ with a stress on the ’s’)

anywayz, during the homily, the priest talked about St. Therese’s love for God and her neighbours, her thirst to love souls that would in turn love God, and how we should express our devotion to her by living from her example of love…

yet, much to my surprise, right after the priest announced that they would be giving away roses blessed for the intention of her feastday, love for neigbour suddenly became non-existent…without even giving the choir a chance to finish singing the recessional hymn, the crowd just surged all the way up to the altar where the heap of blessed roses was…God! it was a sight, far too difficult to comprehend, here we see devotees of a saint who was so inclined towards love for others, a saint who always sought to be the least and the last…and yet, you would never see that kind of attitude there…you’d see them pushing each other, some grabbing as much as a whole bundle of those roses, leaving none for the rest…

so much for the memory of Therese…so much for love…

and it makes me wonder, what about me, when i become a saint? as early as now, i must come up with a thing to be associated with my memory, so that during my feast, priests would be giving these away after mass… i know, i’ll choose the CACTUS…
